In the project "Research of a nono-energy system creation", we intend to develop new distributed energy systems, which we call "nano-energy systems", that will add high values to the existing energy systems and also contribute to addressing the environmental problems that mankind faces today. The 5-year project, started in the fiscal year 2006, is supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).

Integration of many research fields are needed to realize nano-energy systems: not only fundamental disciplines such as physics, chemistry, biology but also technological fields such as materials science, microfabrication, ionics, electrical engineering, thermal engineering, fluidics, and control engineering. It is our belief that nano-energy systems will be indispensable for stimulating new developments in the areas of cell phones, robots, personal computers, artificial organs and sensor networks, in order to realize novel useful services for the human community. Taking interdisciplinary approach, we wish to lead the research in establishing the needed core-technologies in order to realize nano-energy systems.
